There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer with the Pittsburgh Chapter NTMA.

THE PITTSBURGH CHAPTER NTMA’S YOUTH PROGRAM, BotsIQ

BotsIQ provides youth with a unique, hands-on experience that allows them to discover the possibilities of a career in the manufacturing sector and other science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) fields. The program began with its signature combat robotics program created by a dedicated group of volunteers in Pittsburgh nearly two decades ago. It continues today as the largest youth workforce development program with proven results for the manufacturing industry. Find out how you can mentor a team or volunteer at the events.

THE PITTSBURGH CHAPTER NTMA APPRENTICESHIP COMMITTEE

Since 1976, the Pittsburgh Chapter NTMA has provided regional manufacturers with a proven apprenticeship training program for individuals seeking metalworking educational opportunities with standards focused on world-class tooling and machining. Each year, we accept approximately 70 new apprentices into the four-year training program.   Apprentices complete 144 hours of classroom training and 2000 hours of hands-on application at his or her job site annually.  Our Apprenticeship Committee is consistently monitoring educational needs and trends to assure that our apprentices have a rigorous and effective curriculum. This requires volunteers with a passion for manufacturing’s future and education.

For more information about joining the Apprenticeship Committee, please contact our Apprenticeship Program Manager, Liz Blashock.

THE PITTSBURGH CHAPTER NTMA MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE

Pittsburgh Chapter NTMA members have a common connection: their commitment to establishing professional standards for world-class tooling and machining solutions for Southwestern Pennsylvania.  There is no doubt that we are in the age of a global marketplace.  Our member companies believe that the “Made in the USA”, and more specifically, “Made in Southwestern PA” stamp insures a quality that is unsurpassed by any other place in the world. We are continuously looking for companies who believe in the NTMA mission.

If you’d like to help us the grow the Pittsburgh Chapter, please contact the chairperson, Jeff Detar.

THE PITTSBURGH CHAPTER NTMA PROGRAM COMMITTEE

In an effort to provide our membership with valuable content and resources, our program committee works to secure speakers, tours and presentations. This committee is responsible for connecting the Pittsburgh Chapter with Pitt’s Institute for Entrepreneurial Excellence, our membership meetings, our annual golf outing, plant tours and other presentations that add value. Have ideas about experiences that will help our member businesses?
